We should start learning new things each day to achieve our goals.When you start learning you will have the capacity to teach others and when you teach others you will learn a lot more than normal.Let us learn something new today.Today's concept is "Conjunctions".
Conjunctions can be defined as connectors which connect words or group of words.There are three basic conjunctions which we commonly use everywhere.They are:
1.And
2.Or
3.But
Let us briefly look into the basic conjunctions..
1.And-It connects similar or like ideas.
Eg:Priya bought grapes and oranges.
This is actually 2 sentences:
1st sentence-Priya bought grapes.
2nd sentence-Priya bought oranges.
To connect the above 2 similar ideas and is used as:
"Priya bought grapes and oranges".
Hope you have got an idea.Let us move on to the next..
2.Or-It connects two or more possibilities or choices.
Eg:You can read or write.
This is actually 2 sentences:
1st sentence-You can read.
2nd sentence-You can write.
To connect the above 2 possibilities or is used as:
"You can read or write".
Here comes the last one..
3.But-It connects contrasting ideas.
Eg:Priya loves sweets but she hates ice-cream.
This is actually 2 sentences:
1st sentence-Priya loves sweets.
2nd sentence-Priya hates ice-cream.
To connect the above 2 contrasting ideas but is used as:
"Priya loves sweets but she hates ice-cream".
